But no more.
She's tired of the painful brushing every day and she can't wash it well enough on her own. So I promised her that if she wore it down for her 6yo photos (a difficult request for her due to her over-sensitivity to the feel of it on her neck), we would finally get it cut (much to my shagrin).
So here are the before and afters. I think it's cute even if it does remind me that my only little girl is growing up!

Aww sweet pictures! I used to love having my hair french braided when I was a little girl.
I love that - great job on the braiding!
she is adorable
It looks great!
gorgeous! i love it!!!
Ditto on the wonderful braiding!
It must make it all a bit easier to take that Raegan didn't want to get it cut short enough that she couldn't put it up. Occasionally my girls ask if they can get theirs all cut off as short as the boys (who get their hair cut by their dad with a #4 razor). I am sure they can hear the horror in my voice when I respond. Especially as I still remember clearly the day that Joshua cut giant chunks off from Anna's hair less than an inch from her double crown.
